Scapula and Arm Positioning on the Reformer presented by Michael Fritzke & Ton Voogt
The human body functions as an interconnected system, with certain areas sharing particularly strong relationships. There is a special relationship between the movement of the rib cage, scapula, and the arm. This interconnection is crucial for proper movement, as correct gait cannot be accomplished without these body parts working in harmony. In this workshop, we will discuss the rib cage, scapula, and arm. We will then perform exercises on the reformer to integrate this knowledge and put it into action.
Equipment Needed:
• Reformer
• Long/short Box & Pole
You are welcome to observe if you do not have apparatus and to use the recording to practice when you do!
Objectives:
• Understanding of how the rib cage, scapula and arm are connected
• Discover why this is important
• Experience exercises that focus on the interconnected movement of the rib cage, scapula and arm
Why should I take this session?
The shoulder complex is just that – complex! Instructors often struggle with how to aid a student in connecting to this area and hence stabilizing the body and moving it correctly. This workshop will help you gain insight into the biomechanics of this region and how it reverberates through the system.
