A synergistic effect is created when we practice yoga on Pilates equipment. When we work inward with a moving meditation, use the assistance and resistance of the chair springs, the wide base of support of the chair, and a deep focus on the powerhouse (mula bandha), we provide an optimal environment that allows for a student’s practice to reach new levels. Learn how to bring yoga onto the chair to create an entirely different experience that will benefit both Pilates and yoga students.
Objectives:
At the end of the workshop the attendee will:
-have gained an introduction (or review) of basic yoga principles and how they intersect with Pilates
- understand how the springs can assist and/or resist basic asana postures
-explore how to position the body in relationship to gravity and the chair to different effect
-experience a class of yoga on the chair
Why should I take this workshop? Fusion classes are popular, but also tricky to do with authenticity. Learn the ins and outs of providing a valuable experience to your students and gain a class you can take home. Additionally, many yoga students struggle with advancing their practice and with the addition of the springs can begin to work toward more advanced posture. For Pilates students, the variety and addition of many more weight bearing experiences is an invigorating challenge.
What if I can't make the date and time?
We understand life is busy! If you cannot attend this course at the scheduled time, please register, and a recording will be uploaded to PeakU within 48 hours of the workshop, where it will be available to view for two weeks.
