Every-Body Pilates

Description

Learn to design and lead a Pilates movement class based on the Pilates principles designed to make exercises more accessible to people with balance and stability challenges. Using a sturdy chair as a prop, learn Pilates exercises adapted for those who cannot get up and down to a mat, suffer from osteoporosis or arthritis and have balance challenges. Explore adaptations of Pilates movements using a chair as a prop. Build strength improving mobility to get down to the floor and back up. Improve posture and balance with a chair to support and assist. Gain knowledge to modify Pilates exercises to fit everyBODY.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the workshop the attendee will:

1. Perform Pilates exercise adaptations using chair as prop to build strength and stability and to gain mobility.

2. Improve posture, balance and stability with a chair for support.

3. Learn Pilates exercise modifications with a supportive chair for those suffering with osteoporosis, arthritis, or limited range of motion.
