Fantastic Fascia with Trevor Schoonraad- 2 CECs
Fascia is literally everywhere in our bodies. It surrounds and penetrates every muscle, it supports every organ, coats every nerve and covers every bone. It makes true the statement of ‘it is all connected’, hence the term ‘connective tissue’.
This remarkable matrix gives us form and holds us together. This inter-connectedness means that tension in any one particular part of the fascia can have a marked impact on several other areas or systems and thereby affect our posture, movement and quality of life.
This workshop will explore how Pilates can help to keep the fascia hydrated, mobile and healthy.
During this workshop you will learn:
1. What fascia is and how it functions within the framework of healthy movement.
2. To identify the main fascial lines of the body and explore how areas of tension within these lines can impact healthy movement and functioning of the systems of the body.
3. How the Pilates work can benefit optimum fascial condition and how to work with areas of dysfunction using the Pilates repertoire.
Why should I take this course?
As an instructor you will gain a deeper understanding of the way fascia connects all of the parts of the body and how to look at the body holistically as a fully integrated system.
This will enhance the way you apply the Pilates method to your students and provide an extra layer of depth to your teaching.
You will further develop your ‘eye’ and also your ability to make informed exercise choices based on what you observe.
Equipment needed: 2 therabands will be used but are not required.
